Camilla Dasher Battu

Camilla died peacefully at home surrounded by her family Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2010.
Camilla was born June 30, 1922 in Effingham County to Ellis Austin Dasher and Martha Hinley Dasher.
She attended Chatham County schools and graduated from Savannah High School in 1940. She retired from the Chatham County Board of Education after 20 years of service as secretary at Charles Herty Elementary School. She spent her retirement doing things she loves the most: camping in North Georgia, sewing and needlework, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Bonaventure Road Church of Christ.
Camilla is preceded in death by her parents, Johnny her husband of 63 years, her sister, Lorene Turner and brother, Lowell Dasher.
Camilla is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Daniel Lockett; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Brenda Battu. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jennifer and Barry Cline, Danny and Roxanne Lockett, and Troy and Jennifer Lockett, as well as great-grandchildren Brandon Chapman, Avery Lockett, Braden Lockett, Ty Lockett, Carter Cline and Patterson Cline. She is also survived by a brother, Austin Dasher.
The funeral service will be on Sunday, November 28, at 3:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm in the chapel. Interment will be private.
